Sam Kerr becomes Chelsea's joint-record top-flight goal scorer in Everton win | Man Utd held at Tottenham - WSL roundup

Chelsea closed in on Champions League qualification for next season as Sam Kerr's double helped the Women's Super League champions to a 4-1 win at Everton.

Kerr opened the scoring early on at Goodison Park with a trademark finish, only for Yuka Momik to bring the home side level with one of the goals of the season.

Chelsea then took control of proceedings after half-time, scoring through Kerr again before goals from Ellie Carpenter and Erin Cuthbert completed the win for Sonia Bompastor's side.

That twin strike moved Kerr on to 63 WSL goals for Chelsea, drawing the forward Kerr level with Fran Kirby's total for the west London club.

Those three points keep Chelsea in second place, six points behind leaders Man City, but more crucially now four clear of third-placed Manchester United after Marc Skinner's team were held to a frustrating goalless draw at Tottenham Hotspur to hinder their hopes of Champions League football next season.

It could have been worse for the visitors, with Spurs having 22 attempts at goal in the game. United now look certain to slip out of the top three in the league with Arsenal sitting one point behind with three games in hand on their rivals, the first of which is at home to Leicester City on Wednesday night, live on Your Site.

Elsewhere on Sunday, London City Lionesses thrashed bottom-of-the-table Leicester City 5-1 at the Hayes Lane Stadium to stay seventh, while Cornelia Kapocs's sixth-minute own goal saw West Ham United beat fellow strugglers Liverpool at the Totally Wicked Stadium.
