Livingston 2-2 Aberdeen: Robbie Muirhead equaliser earns a point for the Scottish Premiership's bottom side

Robbie Muirhead's spectacular equaliser left Livingston clinging on to their William Hill Premiership status and Aberdeen still waiting to secure safety after a 2-2 draw.

Livi twice fought back to stop the Dons claiming a hat-trick of league victories for the first time since the beginning of last season's league campaign.

Former Celtic player Mitchel Frame opened the scoring with his maiden first-team goal before Joel Nouble levelled inside two minutes of the second half.

Dan Finlayson's 71st-minute own goal put the visitors back in the driving seat but Muirhead produced a trademark strike from long range seven minutes later.

Livi are now eight points behind Kilmarnock and will be relegated on Saturday if Neil McCann's team beat Dundee United.

A win would have all but secured Aberdeen's top-flight status, but they could still be safe by Saturday night.

The early stages were notable for a strong contender for miss of the season from Toyosi Olusanya, who has failed to find the net since scoring for St Mirren in February 2025.

The striker ran well clear of the Livi defence to race on to Dennis Geiger's through ball but dragged his eight-yard shot so far wide that it was trundling out for a throw-in before the offside flag was raised.

Footage showed he had timed his run from the halfway line to perfection though.

Livi offered some mild threat from set-pieces before wing-back Frame cut inside and finished low into the corner from 16 yards following Geiger's pass in the 24th minute.

Aberdeen continued to look dangerous and Geiger was denied by Mo Sylla's block before Jerome Prior denied Stuart Armstrong from a counter-attack.

Dimitar Mitov pulled off an excellent diving save to tip over Joel Nouble's 20-yard curler but the hosts were otherwise off the pace and it was no surprise to see Marvin Bartley make three half-time changes as Scott Pittman, Barrie McKay and Macaulay Tait came on.

There was an instant impact. McKay forced a similar stop from Mitov with his first touch, seconds after the restart and the hosts levelled from the resulting corner.

Finlayson won the first aerial duel before Sylla headed off the post and Nouble slid in to net the rebound from a yard out after the ball had bounced off Aberdeen striker Kevin Nisbet.

Nisbet soon missed a chance on the counter-attack but Livi had more energy about them and Nouble had a shot blocked before both sides lost defenders to injury, with Cristian Montano and Jack Milne going off.

The visitors went back in front as Olusanya won a soft free-kick after pressing substitute Babacar Fati following Mitov's long punt.

Nisbet made a clever run to the near post to head on Stuart Armstrong's delivery and the ball bounced off Finlayson's head and flashed past Prior.

The hosts levelled again when Muirhead collected a loose ball 22 yards out and curled a brilliant finish into the top corner.

Muirhead and Nicolas Milanovic missed chances at either end as both teams sought a winner.
