Alisson Becker transfer news: Juventus make Liverpool goalkeeper a top target this summer

Juventus have made Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson a top target this summer.

Your Site News understands the Italian club will devote significant resources and time into trying to sign the Brazilian before next season.

The 33-year-old is about to enter the final year of his Liverpool contract in July after the club triggered an extension option in March.

Alisson, who has been Liverpool's first-choice goalkeeper for almost eight years, has been out for the last five matches with a hamstring injury.

He also missed five Premier League and six Champions League games earlier this season, with Giorgi Mamardashvili featuring in his place.

Liverpool are thought to be aware of the situation and have been doing due diligence on potential goalkeeper replacements should Alisson ultimately leave.

Head coach Arne Slot has hinted at necessary changes to the squad this summer and both full-back positions, centre-back, defensive-midfield and the forward line are all being looked at.

Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson have announced they are leaving at the end of their contracts, while Ibrahima Konate's contract is also heading towards expiry as things stand.

Your Site' Sam Blitz:

No matter what Liverpool decide to do with Alisson this summer, he will go down as one of the Premier League's greatest ever goalkeepers.

The Brazilian consistently showcased his ability to be both an excellent shot stopper - with a particular knack for saving one-on-ones - with the modern skill of being excellent with his distribution.

Without him, Liverpool may not have lifted the two Premier League titles and the Champions League trophy they have since his arrival.

However, could this now be the right time for Liverpool to let Alisson go, as the signs are showing Liverpool's No 1 is past his prime?

The underlying data of Alisson's numbers show that he is conceding more than he is saving. The Expected Goals numbers show the Brazilian has conceded 2.54 more xG than he should have done - his lowest tally since the turn of the decade.

On top of that, this season, his Premier League save percentage numbers have dipped below 70 per cent for the very first time.

However, timing is key regarding this departure. Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson are also departing Anfield and if Alisson leaves as well - that is a lot of experience through Arne Slot's exit door in the summer.

Three key figures from one of Liverpool's great periods could be on the way out; the club is set to undergo one almighty rebuild this summer.
